Oklahoma State Meet Highlights
- Junior Vernon Turner from Yukon continued to amaze in the high jump, where he went 7 feet, 4.50 inches to smash the all-time Oklahoma record and move into a tie for No. 8 all-time.
- Sophomore Howard Douglass from Midwest City won the 6A 100 meters in 10.74 seconds after going 10.62 in the prelims.
- Junior Brock Appiah from Edmond North won the 6A 200 meters in 21.55 seconds. He was also on the winning 4x100 relay team (41.50).
- Junior Morganne Mukes from Edmond Memorial won the 6A girls 100 meters in 12.06 seconds. She was third in the 200.
- Sophomore Whitney Bridges from Southmoore won the 200 meters in 25.18 (24.62 prelim) and placed second in the 100 with 12.10 seconds.
- Dillon Stoner from Jenks won the 6A 400 meters in 48.62 seconds.
- Kya Barnes from Edmond Memorial won the 6A girls 400 meters in 55.74 seconds. She also ran on winning 4x200 and 4x400 (3:54.95) relays that helped Edmond Memorial score 91.33 points for the team championship.
- Sophomore Rilee Rigdon of Bartlesville won the 6A girls 800 meters in 2:11.02. She also helped her team win the 4x800 (9:24.78).
- Junior Cheyenne Walden from Charles Page won the distance double in 6A. She won the 1,600 meters in 5:02.46 and also the 3,200 in 10:55.99.
- Jordan Prince from Edmond North won the 6A 300 hurdles in 37.82 seconds. He ran 37.53 in the prelims.
- Edmond North dominated the boys 6A sprint relays -- winning the 4x100 (41.32 prelim), 4x200 (1:26.58) and 4x400 (3:19.02) relays. At the end of the day, though, Edmond North's 92 points weren't enough to beat Edmond Memorial, which scored 111 for the team title.
- The Jenks boys won the 6A 4x800 relay in 7:53.78.
- Sophomore Patrick Larrison of Moore won the 6A boys throws double, taking the shot put (58-9) and discus (183-9) at his home track.
- Sophomore Bailey Golden from Choctaw won the 6A girls high jump with a clearance at 5-8.
- Sydney Long from Westmoore won the 6A girls long jump with 18-8.75.
- Eugene Grayson from Glenpool swept the 5A boys 800 (1:56.19), 1,600 (4:27.09) and 3,200 (9:43.63). His wins helped Glenpool win the team title with 80 points.
- Destinee Lewis from Durant won the 5A girls discus with a mark of 150-5.
- Del City won the girls 5A team title with 94 points.
A week earlier, at the 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A meets ...
- Aaliyah Birmingham of Tulsa Central won the 4A girls 100 meters in 11.98 seconds. She also won the 200 in 25.87.
- Kyandre Lyons of Tulsa Central won the 4A boys 100 in 10.71 and was even faster (10.66) in the prelims. He was second in the 200.
- Carsyn Spurgeon of Vinita won the 4A girls 400 meters in 55.66 seconds. She also won the long jump with a huge mark of 20-2.50.
- Senior Zach Black from Sallisaw won the 4A boys 800 meters in 1:55.34. He was also fourth in the 1,600 and he won the 3,200 meters (9:15.89).
- Adrena Mazzei of Berryhill won a 4A triple -- placing first in the 800 (2:16.09), the 1,600 (5:03.69) and the 3,200 (11:22.01).
- Sophomore Haylee Swayze from Purcell won 4A titles in the 100 hurdles (14.82) and the 300 hurdles (45.10).
- Junior Casey Base from Oologah won the 4A discus with 184-6.
- Chris Cohen from Millwood won 3A titles in the 110 hurdles (14.24) and the 300 hurdles (38.43).
- Logan Daily from Okemah was the standout of the 2A meet. He won the 100 meters in 10.66 seconds. He also won the 200 meters in 21.62.
- Junior Brooklyn James from Dibble won the 2A girls 300 hurdles in 44.28 seconds. More news
