Larrison throws nation-leading 210-9 to win 3rd discus title

Some of the most impressive highlights from the the 5A-6A Oklahoma State Track and Field Championships came from the throwing ring. In particular, Moore High School. At Yukon High on Friday, Patrick Larrison, a senior from Moore, claimed his third straight 6A discus title with a toss of 210 feet, 9 inches, setting a state record. His mark is currently the top throw in the country. On Saturday, Larson added his third straight shot put title, throwing 65-7 for another record.

"I just wanted to come out and really seal the deal. I was really proud of the way we came out to show what Moore throwing is all about," Larrison told newsok.com

Teammate and fellow senior Hannah Bradford won the discus (138-8) to make it a Moore sweep. 

Westmoore High's Anthony Riley made history. Again. The junior bested his own state long jump record, this time going 25-feet, 1 inch. 

“I felt great. It was just a great day,” Riley told the normantranscript.com. His previous 6A record was 24-5.25.

Junior Jesse Porter of Putnam City West set a 6A state record in the 100 dash, clocking 10.33. He added a 200 title (21.46).

Senior Jed Helker of Edmond Memorial pulled off the impressive triple, winning the 6A 800, 1,600 and 3,200, scoring 30 points to help his team win the title, edging out Union, 98-90. 

Moore senior Tiana Holmes won the 6A 400 title in 55.82.

Freshman India Morgan of Putnam City West soared to a 6A state long title, going 18-11.50.

The Union High boys 4x200 relay set a 6A record (1:26.04).

Elgin High junior Keith Drapeau won the 5A high jump crown and Chris Banks of Edmond North won the 6A, both clearing 6-8. 

Sophomore Roderick Standokes of Duncan swept the 5A 100 (10.60) and 200 (22.60) crowns.

Last weekend the 3A/4A meet at Moore High in Moore, freshman Daphne Matthews was the star of the 4A meet, as she ran a state meet record 800-meter time of 2:13.88. She added another title in the 400, clocking 57.23. 

Senior Preston Turner of Lincoln Christian won the 3,200 in 9:53.23.

Haylee Swayze, a senior from Purcell, claimed the 3A 200 (23.36) and 400 (55.68).  

Mount Saint Mary senior Bennett Barnett won the 3A 1,600 (4:29.96) and 3,200 (9:54.77).

Brock Hottel of Purcell soared 17-3 to claim the 3A pole vault title. He was more than 3 feet higher than the second-place finisher.

At the 2A/1A state championships at Western Heights in Oklahoma City, Brady Carpenter of Hobart won the 3,200, 1,600 and 800-meter 2A crowns. He also ran on winning 1,600 relay.

Ellie Gilbreath of Regent Prep won the 800 (2:16.40), 1,600 (5:13.60) and 3,200 (11:00.52) setting 1A state records in all three events.

Junior Colton Brown of Boise City swept the 3,200, 1,600 and 800 1A titles and ran on the winning 4x800 relay.
